COBOL Developer

The candidate will be working on the Canada Oracle EDI conversion project under the direct supervision of the project leader. As part of this project, we require COBOL programs to be written that will access Oracle database tables. Strong knowledge of Oracle table set up is also required.. The candidate will be responsible for the design, coding, testing and implementation of the programs based on specifications provided to them. The position requires a COBOL developer experienced with embedded SQL for Oracle database access.. UNIX experience necessary. Previous use of MicroFocus COBOL and Mainframe experience would be a plus but are not required.

The candidate will be creating programs that take purchase orders and Sales Returns and convert elements from customer formats to internal formats. For Invoices, we will be converting from internal to customer formats. The programs will access Oracle database tables that cross reference item number, customer number and Unit of Measure received to internal numbers and vice versa for outbound. We also require programs that will save the original data elements sent by customers to the Oracle database and others that will access that original data to use when sending outbound transactions.
